Netflix is Building Its Own Game Studio in Helsinki
On September 26, a post was made on the streaming service’s official website announcing an in-house game studio in Helsinki, Finland, with Marko Lastikka as director.
The platform had already acquired some smaller studios, but this time it decided to be bold and invest a little more to start from scratch.
Amir Rahimi says that the intention is to develop games that are, loosely translated, “original and engaging, without ads or items to be purchased within the platform”.
The project is in its early stages and there is no release date set. According to Rahimi, developing a game can take years, but the company is excited to share what’s coming with its subscribers.
